Click it up a Notch - I learned

I learned that I'm starting to get a hang of manual mode. I've been shooting in manual exclusively all week.
I was so excited when I took these photos of white flowers with backlighting and I could properly expose them.  The first is macro actually, I like the light rays in the background. Then I ditched the extension tube so I could try to get a star burst. By this time I had to shoot behind a bush that was only 1m tall as the sun was so low.  By the way this is a Snow Flake bush.

f/16, 1/30sec, ISO 400, 50mm 1.8 & extension tube 25

f/22, 1/30, ISO 400, 50mm 1.8

I just ventured to manual yesterday. It was a lot of fun having even more control, than I get in Aperture mode. I love your shots, especially the starburst.

Love your starburst as well!!! Once you go to manual is hard to go back and although at times could be frustrating the more you do it the better you get.

Beautiful! I love how the starburst and the white flowers kind of echo each other.

Thank you for all the lovely and supportive comments.
Henrietta whine away when it's cold, why do you think my parents jumped at the chance to move us to sunny Australia. :-) Strawberries sound delicious!

Wow!! For someone only shooting on manual mode for a week, these are FANTASTIC!! I can't believe you have only been shooting for a week!! I LOVE the star burst you were able to capture and those rays of light coming in the first one just MAKE the photo!! Well done!!

Thank you Courtney, I have to wonder myself why it's taken me so long to learn manual. I had tried but gotten confused and stressed that I'd miss the shot, and just switched back to aperture priority. Doing macro was actually the perfect chance to practice as a flower or other still life isn't going to run off. I even shot our whole family outing on the weekend in manual. :-)
