Scavenger Hunt - Crossed, A Glimpse, Handwritten, Bliss & Grey

I had to take a break last week, but I'm back in the game this week. So here's my interpretations for SHS.

1. Crossed

Fingers crossed for sunny weather. My son was sick earlier in the week, then we get to the weekend and it's raining. So no playing outside, especially as all the recent rain has led to a whole heap of snakes hanging around my mum's place, Aargh!! But we still had fun indoors! 

2. A Glimpse

 I was searching through my mum's playroom (for the grand-kids) and I found my niece's jewelry box. I love how you get a glimpse of the ballerina in the mirror behind.

3. Handwritten

My 2econd Skin Old Paper 5 and Sarah Gardner Score textures applied

My Mormor's (maternal grandmother) handwritten letters are treasured by me. I love how they're in a cursive style that's immediately recognisable as her handwriting. 

4. Bliss

My son is my bliss, he makes every little thing worthwhile and everything wonderful! 

5. Grey

A grey rainy day!

And for a completely different take on grey, I loved how this old engraved vase and actually my homemade reflector in the background gave a metallic grey feel to this photo.

Scavenger Hunt - Facial Features, Shadow, Spicy, Gold & Fabric

Personal Alert...Another week has gone by and this week I really thought I wouldn't get the Scavenger Hunt done. I've been in such a funk the last few weeks, my son has gone back to school and although you'd think I'd have more time, it's just been so hard to stay motivated. I've helped out in the class room a few times and he's had 1-2 hours of homework a night, crazy for year 1! Anyway I hope I can shake myself out of this. So here's the prompts and my photos for this week.

1. Facial Features

2. Shadow

We were trying to have a "Where The Wild Things Are" moment. My son's wearing a crown and being the king of wild things. I think I may have left it too late to go outside though and the shadow is a bit too stretched. Might try it again another time.

3. Spicy

 A measure of chilli powder! Mmmm, makes me hungry for Chilli Con Carne!

4. Gold

A gold necklace my husband bought me. :-)

5. Fabric

Scavenger Hunt - Strike a Pose, Footwear, Hobby, Shiny & Colour me Green

 This week has been quite crazy, I didn't even know if I would do SHS heading into the weekend, but with some stretching I've managed it. 

1. Strike a Pose

We went to the Botanical Gardens yesterday and I went looking for dragonflies, this one struck a pose, then flew away. 
Edit: Yes, this is actually a damselfly, a Common Bluetail Damselfly to be precise, as I said it's been a crazy week and the old brain isn't working very well. :-)

2. Footwear

I love this vintage t-shirt of my son's, it has really cool footwear on it, unfortunately he's growing out of it. But I love the boy inside even more, picking flowers for mummy here!

3. Hobby

I got into cross stitch before I had my son, but since he's been born I just haven't had time. 

4. Shiny

 I put some shiny Christmas baubles inside my birds nest.

5. Colour Me Green

I got this watercolour splatter idea from Rosie at Leavesnbloom Studio. I used Watercolour Splatters Photoshop brushes.

Life Lessons from a Butterfly

Trying to pick my favourite photo from the month was hard. I loved this one though, I know it's not the most technically perfect photo but I love the moment it captured, a magical moment for me. This butterfly was only the size of my thumb nail, he was on the inside of my mum's kitchen window and was struggling to find a way to the outside.
I recently read an article describing the life lessons you can learn from a butterfly struggling to get outside through a closed window. Such as that life is a struggle at times, but to look at the bigger picture and to try again if one way fails.

 I've also always loved a quote from the movie "You've Got Mail";
"Once I read a story about a butterfly in the subway, and today, I saw one! It got on at 42nd and off at 59th, where, I assume, it was going to Bloomingdales to buy a hat that will turn out to be a mistake, as almost all hats are." ~ You've Got Mail (Movie)
A bit of silliness but I was always intrigued by the thought.

Scavenger Hunt - Smile, Stand Alone, Rusty or Old, Artificial & Repeating Pattern

What a boring and uninspiring week!  Rain has been pouring down all week, then my son got sick at the end of the week with a stomach bug :-( . So most of the ideas I had for this weeks SHS went out the window! But I did manage to get something together.

1. Smile

Didn't turn out exactly as planned, the Cheerio smile was hard to get to sit right and not clump together. But a happy way to start the day!

2. Stand Alone

One domino left standing.

3. Rusty or Old

My Morfar's (Swedish for maternal Grandfather) piping and decorating nozzles. He was a baker and ran his own bakery out of my mum's childhood home. These are probably too old and rusty to use, but they're a wonderful memory. Photographed on an old cookbook.

4. Artificial

An artificial bird! This bird cage is my mum's and her little artificial bird.

5. Repeating Pattern

The repeating pattern in the tea cup. And a repeating pattern throughout my week, tea or coffee, a good book or a movie, making a perfect cosy escape from the rain.
